I was born Antonia DiStasio in Luogosano, Avellino – a small mountain village 45 minutes from Naples, Italy.
Having immigrated to the United States with my family, I learned to cook from my mother who had a God given gift to make a gourmet meal out of nothing. We’ve come close to my mother’s cooking and baking but never as perfect as she made them. My mother, taught us that the kitchen is a never ending affair and that anything is possible. Her motto: “Great tasting food and good company makes for a great love affair.”
My first book, Nonna’s Kitchen, was personally taken out of publication only selling at the New England Mobile Book Fair in Newton, MA. Without advertising, my cookbook has been doing well in sales. That told me that people liked my recipes and that it was being advertised by “word of mouth”… the best advertising anyone could possibly get. A lot of recipes were left out of my first cookbook... thus the creation of my second book: “Nonna’s Kitchen 2”.
